Seahorse Pools & Spas contractors in Fort Worth, Texas understand that hot tubs and spas are more popular in the cooler months of the year. If you haven’t really used your hot tub too much this summer, now might be the time you’re ready for it. Before you start using it you will need to know how to clean a hot tub cover so the hot tub water stays clean and sanitized.
Be diligent in the use of the hot tub cover
The cover protects the hot tub, maintains the water chemistry, is a layer of safety and traps in the heated water. Using a cover keeps debris from the water, shields it against the elements and keeps curious wildlife out; they may be drawn to the warm water when the days and nights cool off.
The investment you make in a quality hot tub cover will protect the hot tub invesment you’ve made.
How to clean a hot tub cover
To clean the cover:
- Wash the cover, top and bottom with mild detergent
- Wash the underside of the hot tub cover to get off any algae or mold spores and chemical build up
- Once you have thoroughly cleaned the cover, rinse off the detergent then let the cover dry thoroughly
Water that has its chemistry properly balanced and maintained won’t damage the cover. Improperly balanced chemicals harm the cover more than the exposure to the elements.
Don’t forget to keep the zipper clean and rust-free or it will be almost impossible to open. Rub the zipper with wax to keep it moving smoothly.
